Does the arm length of a catapult affect projectile distance?

Haven't we all wondered about that sometime or another? That was Kaitlyn's question this year for science fair. Here she is at the fair with her project. (sorry about the blurry pictures, something is up with my camera!)
Earlier this school year, she built a catapult, with the help of her handy and crafty father.

Then she tested it out several times, gathering tons of data.

She won at the school level and went on to district...

Where she won 2nd place in the category of math and physics with a special award from the US Metric Association and one from the United States Air Force.

Yep, we're proud of our young scientist!

six years and counting....

Jack celebrated his sixth birthday on Sunday.
We can't believe he is that big already!

This year he had a fun family party with the Findlay's

And he got a new bike... (can you tell his favorite color is green?)

He wanted me to take a picture of his new creepy helmet.
Look out neighborhood-as soon as the snow thaws he's hittin' the road!

24 kids & 12 adults in a cabin at Bear Lake

We spent several days with lots of good friends in a cabin at Bear Lake last weekend. It was fun to spend some time there in the winter, especially since we usually are there in the summer. There were friends for everyone. The older girls had fun with pipe cleaners...

The adults played lots of fun games...

And everybody ate way too much food!

Feeding that many kids is an adventure in itself!

We spent some time on 4 wheelers and snow mobiles...

And lounged around in the snow..

And we had a blast on a great sledding hill with NO INJURIES! Amazing!

Dads raced...

And so did the moms. FYI- I won!

And we sent 15-20 kids down the hill at once-and still, NO INJURIES!

It is awesome to have such fun friends to hang out with!
