Girls Camp

Kaitlyn is attending her first YW Girls Camp this week. Chris went with her for the first 2 days (priesthood rep) and took a few pictures. He said that she was having a blast. She comes home on Friday. Can't wait to hear all of her stories!

With her buddy Grace... (Charlie's Angels)

Our good friends the Shaws spoke at their first campfire.

A pajama fashion show.... the fleece is for blankets that they will be making during the week.

On a hot, five mile hike.

Looks like fun to me!

Soarin'

Saturday was a day for flying out at the Ogden Municipal Airport.
Doug's Fathers Day gift was a once in a lifetime flight on a B-17.
We all came out to watch...

There is only about a handful of these great planes from WWII that still fly.

He had about 45 minutes of flying and came off the plane saying it was"AWESOME!"
THEN....after a briefing on parachute operation (he was joking),

Kaitlyn and Cameron boarded a Cessna 182 to experience true adventure of flight and became Young Eagles in the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association).

If you know Kaitlyn well, you know that she would love to be a pilot when she grows up.
They both are fearless....look at their faces...jubilation!

There they go!!!

They had about 30-40 minutes of flight time, flying over our house, and out to Brigham City.
They came back thrilled and got a certificate signed by Harrison Ford, who I guess is the chairman. Their name is now entered into the world's largest logbook at the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
(Incidentally, the sun was VERY bright, resulting in Kaitlyn's teary eyes and scowl and mom just doesn't take pictures fast enough!)

PS- there was a short moment when the thought came to me that I had just sent 2/3 of my children up in the air with a complete stranger. He could have flown them to Timbuktu if he wanted! Those kids had a blast and I'm getting braver.....

Den mother

For those of you who are wondering, I do have an official "den mother" uniform-a very large one that I probably should button up and tuck in.

And I probably should be wearing some kind of neckerchief. But these boys don't care all that much!
This is Cameron, leading the flag ceremony at pack meeting in April with his pack and "den mother."

I, Cameron Findlay, promise to do my best, to do my duty.....

Cameron earned his wolf badge recently at pack meeting.
Here he is with his den singing the Star Spangled Banner...

Moms get a special pin when their cub scout earns their wolf badge. (I'm his den leader too...)

Now he is off to the bear den. I'll miss having him in my group!

Graduation Day!

Last Wednesday was fun for us because it was...
Preschool Graduation Day for Jack!

Getting his "diploma" from his teacher, Miss Amy

His good friend and carpool buddy, Stevie

Jack and Miss Amy- she's a great teacher!

Jack had a great time at Miss Amy's preschool this year
and we are very proud of him. Preschool graduation is really
cute!!!

We also had Kaitlyn's 6th grade graduation that morning!

This is Kaitlyn and her good friend Grace. That is also Kaitlyn
on the wall, along with some of her artwork

She was awarded the Presidential Academic Award,
and received a nice letter from President Bush.
Her teacher is the bald guy-Mr Coiner.
She has been such a trooper to go back to elementary
school this year because we moved.
We are glad she is so adaptable-and smart!!

A busy week at school!

We spent a lot of time at Lomond View this week.
Kaitlyn had her final orchestra concert and did great! Takes after her mom...

She also got really brave this week and ran for student body class officer for Junior High next year. She made three posters and gave an awesome speech to the entire 6th grade. 33 kids ran and only 3 spots were allotted for her school. She didn't get elected, but we think she is really cool for trying!

Pirates posters-no surprise there! We've since had lots of comments from people who saw them at school and thought they looked neat.

We took Brownie to school for 3rd grade pet day....some kids even brought horses. It was a zoo. Here is Cameron (middle) with some of his buddies-Skyler and Thomas.

Cameron also had a 3rd grade performance complete with singing, dancing and a stick routine.

They only have one more week of school-packed with field trips, parties, yearbooks and probably a few movies. HOORAY FOR SUMMER!!!
